I’m so excited to be launching this new series on my blog all about moving into my our first home. The whole process has moved so fast and I can’t believe we are actually moving in next week! Here’s a run down of the whole process so far…
The story so far
In February Me and Dave decided it was time to start looking for houses. With the wedding a year and a half away we wanted to make sure we were settled in our house well before the wedding preparation started. We also thought spring/summer would be an ideal time to move in, perfect for some house warming BBQ’s.
With us not living together and both working full time it made sense to get a mortgage advisor. This was great and took a lot of the stress away from the whole process. Once we got an idea of how much we could borrow the fun of looking online started. We had a bit of a wish list, 3 bedrooms, a kitchen diner and a nice sized garden. There wasn’t too much on offer when we started looking and it became evident that houses were selling fast this time of year.
The first house we viewed was perfect and somewhere I could see myself living for as long as I could imagine. I loved the hallway, the beautiful garden and a super cute loft room. The only down side was that it was a bit over budget with us saving for a wedding and we needed to be realistic with ourselves on what we could comfortably afford. Yes we could have gone for the first house but we would have had to cut back on a lot of luxuries and thats not something I was ready to part with.
The house we are buying went on the market on a Thursday afternoon, we then went for a viewing on the Friday after work and by 9am Saturday we had put our offer in! The whole process was so fast it almost felt like it was meant to be.
Dave called me when I was in Tesco to tell me the offer had been accepted and I had to try and stop myself from squealing with excitement. Straight away me and my sister headed to TK Maxx to take some homeware inspo photos.
So now the boxes have been packed, huge de-clutters have be done and I’m ready to go. We get the keys tomorrow and i’m counting down the hours. I can’t wait to get in and start decorating. By the middle of May we should be all moved in and I can start sharing my plans with you. In the meantime I’ve got some mood boards below of some of the items I’ve got on my wish lists.
