After another bus border crossing fiasco we arrived in Ho Chi Minh, 3 hours delayed eek! We headed to our hotel which luckily was about 50 metres away from were the bus dropped us off.
The next day we did our own tour of the town. All of these were in walking distance to the hotel and if your staying in Ho Chi Minh I would recommend walking to these places yourself instead of buying a city tour as it is really easy to find all the attractions.
Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica
Saigon Central Post Office
Ho Chi Minh City Hall
War Remnants Museum
The next day we were up bright and early to go to the Cu Chi tunnels, these were built by the villagers and soldiers during the war as a way to hide. They would have lived underground here for days at a time.
Dave was brave enough to go into one of the tiny entrances.
A bit later we had the chance to crawl 120 metres through the tunnels. I managed 40 metres before I chickened out and went through the escape tunnel. I don’t know how they would have managed to stay there for days at a time.
Afterwards we headed back to the town, on the way we saw some rice paper being made which was really cool and I loved how they still use traditional techniques today.
